Cookie Policy

The short version

We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage. The ones we need to run the site load automatically. Analytics and marketing cookies are switched on by default, and the entry screen lets you turn them off before you continue. You can change your mind at any time. This policy works alongside our Privacy Policy.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They include your sign-in session, your age-confirmation acknowledgement, your saved cookie choice, and security and load-balancing state. Examples: jz_age_ok (you confirmed you are 18+), jz_consent (your cookie preferences), and your authentication session.

Preferences

These remember choices that improve your experience, such as which homepage arrangement you saw (jz_hv). They are not used for advertising.

Analytics

These help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it, in aggregate. They include Google Analytics 4 and Ahrefs Web Analytics. They do not load if you turn them off on the entry screen. We also keep a first-party, aggregate usage count that does not set a third-party cookie.

Marketing

These measure the performance of our ads. We do not load the Meta (Facebook) browser pixel and no Meta script runs on this site. We do set two first-party cookies in Meta’s format so that a purchase can be matched to the ad that led to it: _fbc, which holds the click identifier Meta adds to the link you arrived on, and _fbp, a random id for your browser. Conversions are then reported from our own server, and the identifiers we send with them (your email address and account id) are hashed before they leave us. We also set our own ad-attribution tracker (bemob_cid), which records which ad brought you to the site. The two Meta cookies are not written at all if you turn marketing off on the entry screen or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, and no ad conversion is reported in either case. Managing cookies

You control analytics and marketing cookies from the entry screen shown on your first visit, where the option is ticked by default and you can untick it before continuing. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to function. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of sharing: when your browser sends it, analytics and marketing cookies stay off and the option is shown unticked, whatever else is stored.
