Apps Like PolyBuzz: 9 Alternatives Compared on Price, Rules and Memory
PolyBuzz is free with ads, prices its membership only in the app, and its Terms ban the sexual chat its own pages advertise. Nine alternatives, each read on its own pages.

On this page4 sections
Adults only from here: this guide is for readers 18 and over. PolyBuzz is enormous. Its Google Play page shows more than 50 million downloads and 1.2 million reviews, so if you're looking for apps like PolyBuzz, you're not alone. People leave for the same few reasons. The ads. Prices you can only see inside the app. And rules that seem to change depending on which page you read.
We checked nine alternatives the boring way. For each one we read its own pricing page, terms, help center or store listing on November 6, 2026, and nothing else. No review sites, no Reddit threads. Prices move, so look again before you pay. One more thing: Jizzy is on the list, and it's ours. We wrote down where it falls short, too.
What PolyBuzz's own pages say
Start with money. The site calls PolyBuzz "accessible at no cost," with an optional membership "to unlock a more enhanced experience," and Google Play flags both ads and in-app purchases. What does the membership cost? None of its public pages say. Its Terms of Use describe monthly plans on iOS "with multiple service level choices" plus an in-app currency called Coins, and they send you to the in-app page for the actual rates. Plans renew on their own until you cancel. And the Terms say payments aren't refunded "even if the subscription is subsequently cancelled."
Then the content rules, which is where it gets odd. PolyBuzz's AI girlfriend page says it "does not apply NSFW filters during private chat sessions." Its FAQ bans NSFW content anywhere public. But the Community Rules inside its Terms (last updated May 18, 2026) tell you not to "send, submit, post, or share" anything that "depicts pornography or sexual acts." Private chat isn't carved out. So which one counts? If your account is ever reviewed, it's the Terms, not the marketing.
Two smaller things bugged us. First, age. You type in a birth date the first time you open the app, and the Terms say 18 is the minimum, yet Google Play lists it as Mature 17+. (In the UK, a typed-in birth date isn't enough: a provider like Ondato or Yoti has to check your age before you can use the app.) Second, data. The Privacy Policy, last updated December 23, 2025, lets ad networks read your phone's advertising ID. It also says uploaded photos and your precise location may be used "to train our AI algorithm." You can delete your account under Settings. There's no undo.

If you want another big character library
1. Talkie: the closest look-alike, minus anything adult
If what you love about PolyBuzz is scrolling through thousands of characters on your phone, Talkie feels the most familiar. It's polished, mobile-first and runs on an in-app currency called Gems. Talkie+ is $9.99 a month inside the app, mostly for daily Gems and a few perks.
It's also one of the strictest apps on this list. The FAQ says "Pornographic and violent content violate our terms of service, and will not be supported in the future," and the community guidelines ban nudity and sexually suggestive images. The terms let in users from 16, with a parent's permission until 18. Memory? The FAQ admits it "has a maximum capacity." Fine for light, SFW chat. Not for anything else.
2. Character.AI: the original library, now in Chapter 11
Character.AI is the app PolyBuzz is usually compared to, and it's still free to use, with ads and a slow mode. Paid plans are c.ai lite ($4.99 on the US App Store) and c.ai+ at $9.99 a month. Every account now goes through an age check, and the help center is clear that porn breaks its terms.
There's a bigger issue, though. On October 12, 2026, Character.AI announced it had started a voluntary Chapter 11 process to sell the company, and it expects the sale to finish around the end of November or early December. If no bid keeps the platform running, the company says it will be wound down. We covered the details, plus how to export your chats, in our Character AI alternatives guide. Moving there right now means moving twice, maybe.
3. Chai: big, mobile and strict about explicit content
Chai is another huge character app, and it's app-only for the moment (the website lists a web version as coming soon). Age checks run through Persona, by selfie or ID, and the safety center says its models are "designed to refuse the generation of restricted material, including sexually explicit content." Its license agreement bans explicit images and videos too.
Like PolyBuzz, Chai keeps prices inside the app, and in some regions you can't use it at all without paying. It doesn't publish any memory or context limits. Good for quick, casual chats. A step backward if PolyBuzz's private chats were the point.
4. SpicyChat: the big library with adult roleplay allowed
SpicyChat is the closest thing to PolyBuzz with the adult rules written down plainly. It's a giant library of user-made bots, its guidelines say "All users must be at least 18 years old," and bots with explicit content must be tagged NSFW. In the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states, NSFW content stays locked until you pass a video selfie or ID check.
You pay for memory by the tier. The free plan and Get a Taste ($5.95 a month) hold 4,096 tokens of context, which SpicyChat's own docs put at roughly 20 recent messages. True Supporter ($19.95) doubles that and is also where in-chat pictures start, on some characters only. Hearing replies read aloud is reserved for the top tier, I'm All In, at $29.95. Prices went up across the board on September 8, 2026, and family roleplay of any kind is banned.
5. Janitor AI: free and openly for adults
Janitor doesn't pretend to be for everyone. Its safety page opens with "Janitor is a platform for adults," and you do have to be 18. Sexual bots get a Limitless tag. Some things stay off-limits anyway, like minors, characters whose age is unclear, incest between blood relatives and age regression. Users in the UK, Australia and Brazil get a one-time age check.
The free tier costs nothing at all. You chat on Janitor's own model, which the help center says holds "around 8k-9k tokens," or plug in an outside model. janitor+ ($12.99 a month, or $99 a year) adds five times the memory and priority access for faster replies. What you don't get is pictures or voice, at least not yet. If you came to PolyBuzz for its voices, you'll notice. More options are in our Janitor AI alternatives guide.
6. CrushOn: pick your model, and voice on every plan
CrushOn's trick is that you pick the model behind each chat. Some are free. The fancier ones eat credits. On the free plan you get 100 message credits a month and 8K of memory, Standard costs $5.99 a month, and the top plans go up to 24K. Liked PolyBuzz's talking characters? Voice messages are listed on every plan, even the free one, and they're billed per exchange.
Read the fine print, though. CrushOn markets itself as no-filter NSFW, yet its Terms of Use (last changed September 22, 2026) say users won't post material that is "NSFW, pornographic, or otherwise sexually explicit." Sound familiar? It's the same gap PolyBuzz has. One more catch: let a free account sit for a week and CrushOn deletes the chat history.
If you want your own companion, not a library
7. Kindroid: your own companions, NSFW allowed, calls included
Kindroid isn't built around a public library, though people can share their creations on Kindroid Social. You design your own companions (up to 2 on the free preview, 10 on a subscription), from personality and backstory to looks and voice. Its moderation guidelines (updated November 4, 2026) list "NSFW (Not Safe for Work) and Erotic Roleplay (ERP)" as allowed. Paying counts as proof you're 18, and free accounts its age system flags get a Yoti selfie or ID check. Subscribers get voice and video calls and selfies in chat, with nude ones only on the web app.
The downside is the price of entry. There's no real free plan, just a one-time 50-message preview (15 in some regions) and a 3-day premium trial, and your account goes read-only after that. On the US App Store the base plan is $15.99 a month, with Ultra and MAX sold as add-ons on top. Memory is the reward: long-term memory plus something Kindroid calls Cascaded Memory, which keeps hundreds of recent messages in view. Kindroid's subscription page lists every tier.
8. Nomi: the memory specialist
Nomi is built around one long relationship. Its wiki describes short-, medium- and long-term memory, notes you can write yourself, and an "Identity Core." The free plan is "indefinite," per the same wiki, with 50 messages a day, 400 characters a message and two images daily. Paid is $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year.
Its homepage promises "Unfiltered Chats," though Nomi says its mobile apps are more restricted than the website. Photos stay clothed: the wiki says "No, Nomis are not permitted to take nude photos of themselves." Voice is paid-only. If you mostly miss a character who actually remembers last week, Nomi is the safest bet here.
9. Jizzy: adult companions with photos and video, no subscription (ours)
Full disclosure again: Jizzy is ours, so weigh this one accordingly. It's strictly for adults. Every companion is fictional, AI-generated and 18 or older, and the promise not to censor paying members is written into our Terms, not just our ads. She remembers you across sessions and devices. She'll also text first, so you're not always the one starting. Anime fan? Sakura is a sharp-tongued tsundere and Aiko a deadpan kuudere, and there are more in the anime lineup.
It's free to start with no card. After that you buy one-time packs from $9.99, and nothing renews. A photo costs 25 jizz and a video from 50. Designing your own companion is free, and unlocking her takes 100 jizz. In India you can pay by UPI in rupees. Now the honest part. There's no community library like PolyBuzz's, no voice at all, and no way to bring characters over. Every companion is a woman, including any you build.
Which one should you pick?
- You want PolyBuzz's huge library and keep things SFW. Talkie is the closest match. Character.AI is the original, but wait until its sale closes.
- You want a library where adult roleplay is allowed in writing. SpicyChat or Janitor AI. Janitor's free tier remembers more (about 9K tokens to SpicyChat's 4K), and both sell extra memory.
- Voice matters to you. Kindroid has calls, Nomi has voice on paid plans, and CrushOn bills voice messages per use. Jizzy has no voice.
- You want one companion who remembers. Nomi or Kindroid, or Jizzy if you want photos and video without a subscription.
- You're in the UK. Expect an age check nearly everywhere, PolyBuzz included.
Last tip. We didn't find a single app here that says it can import PolyBuzz characters, so before you leave, paste your favorite one's description and greeting into your notes app. You'll want it. And on day one somewhere new, drop a tiny detail into the chat, like your dog's name, then ask about it three days later. You'd be amazed how many apps flunk that. Our guide to AI companion memory explains why.
FAQ
What is the best app like PolyBuzz?
Depends what you liked about it. Want the same huge character library on your phone? Talkie's the closest, but it bans adult content. Want a library where adult roleplay is allowed in writing? Try SpicyChat or Janitor AI. And if you'd rather have one companion who remembers you, go with Nomi or Kindroid, or Jizzy if you want photos and video without a subscription.
Is PolyBuzz NSFW?
Depends which page you read. Its AI girlfriend page says private chats have no NSFW filter, and its FAQ only bans NSFW in public. The Terms of Use (updated May 18, 2026) say something else: don't send or share anything that depicts pornography or sexual acts. They don't make an exception for private chat.
Is PolyBuzz free?
Yes, to start, and you'll see ads. The membership and the Coins currency are sold in the app, and none of PolyBuzz's public pages say what they cost. Plans renew until you cancel. One thing to know before paying: the Terms say you won't get a refund, even if you cancel.
Is PolyBuzz safe and private?
It says your chats are private. The Privacy Policy (December 23, 2025) is less cozy. Ad networks can use your phone's advertising ID, and uploaded photos and your precise location may be used to train its AI. You have to be 18. In the UK, you'll pass a third-party age check before you get in.
Which PolyBuzz alternatives have voice?
Kindroid does, with voice and video calls on a subscription. Nomi has voice on paid plans. CrushOn lists voice messages on every plan but bills each exchange, and SpicyChat only reads replies aloud on its top tier. Janitor AI and Jizzy don't have voice.
